Corporate Background

VARTEK Corporation custom designs and builds precision laboratory and ground support test equipment, such as excitation power sources and monitoring equipment. This equipment is used in the performance testing of gyroscopes, accelerometers and inertial navigation systems, both gimbal and strapdown.

VARTEK is proud to bring over 35 years of experience in test equipment development and manufacturing to every customer requirement. Throughout this time, Vartek has satisfied customer requirements by designing solutions to meet their specialized needs. Unique circuitry for gyro and accelerometer excitation, suspension and test measurement have been designed, such as:

START/RUN LINEAR RAMP DECAY: Provides for setting of the unit under test (UUT) Start voltage amplitude, duration and decay time to the voltage Run level. One of the observed effects has been reduced running power at a consistently repeatable level.

ANTI-HUNT: UUT Gyro motor hunt is actively minimized to enable precise monitoring of motor bearing performance with a differential wattmeter.

DYNAMIC RUN DOWN ANALYSIS: Sequentially removes the voltage input and sense leads from the UUT, preventing the wheel power source from effecting the back EMF of the motor while it is being monitored during a Dynamic Run Down (DRA) test.

PHASE ADVANCE: Controls the wheel power source output phases in a direction opposite to the direction of the UUT motor slip.

PHASE LOCK: Synchronizes multiple power supplies.

Design Approach

VARTEK's equipment is typically designed to precise customer specifications. Standard design modules are used to the greatest extent possible to provide rapid response in meeting those requirements. Manufacturing from standard modules ensures excellence in workmanship and flexibility in response. New modules are implemented with intelligent design using proven technology. Vartek's architectural simplicity supports ease of maintenance through module swapping. Intrinsic software is provided as needed to meet and support the operating functionality or communications required for customer's applications. Our goal is to deliver reliable equipment supported with clear, strong documentation.
