This definition from NAFEM refers to a structured and layered serial communications protocol which enables equipment to be linked in a network, using NDP to communicate to and from the equipment and a computer.
Comprised of two (2) parts:
- Administrative Enterprise Group (Required)
- Identifies each type of equipment in a network
- Real time clock for scheduling functions by tracking day and time
- Asset management tracks Model No., S/N, manufacturing date.
- Application Enterprise Group (Optional)
- Monitoring equipment for temperatures, operating parameters, HACCP compliance, etc.
- Maintenance enabled - capability to monitor functions and send alarms to appropriate service personnel.
- Utility monitoring - ability to monitor and report energy usage.
- Other: Inventory Management, Notification, Bulk Transfer and Security.
